Sadness. Immeasurable sadness. Whether it be from betrayal or a loss or maybe both or something else. Times when the entire world is against us and nothing seems to work. We try and we try, but it all seems in vain. Our friends and our families don't understand it. They just don't. They think it's another one of those times. Those times you need a little time alone and you're a bit sad or want to be disconnected. Those are the times we have to cling on. Cling on. It's so easy to say, yet so hard to do. If only things could be as easy as people make it seem like. In an era of instant gratification and perfection, whether it be from likes or comments on Insta or all the travel blogs we follow on Youtube, sometimes it's good to be sad. It brings us back to ourselves. Because after all, what good is there to pleasing everyone if you're not even content with yourself. You have to love yourself first before spreading that love and positivity elsewhere.
That brings us to how to cope with those alone times. Something that might seem counter-intuitive but entirely disconnecting yourself from everything and just being in your own bubble, in your own thoughts and truly letting those moments make you cry is the first thing I would do. Try journaling or even talking to your phone. It makes it seem like there's someone that's listening to you. Sometimes talking or writing about your emotions and feelings make you realize details you might have missed in the thick of it. By being at your lowest, you can only go up from there. After those flow of emotions, you can't let your thoughts take over and dictate the rest of your mentality. This is when you try to find someone that you fully trust and talk over it. Otherwise, you risk being lost in your thoughts and overthinking various scenarios. This might make you imagine things that never happened and make extremes of little things. It makes everything worse and you only realize it in hindsight. Most of the time, the problem isn't that big of a problem. The way you think about it is the biggest problem. Those unhealthy thoughts keep you down and learning to either cope with them, get rid of them or see them in a better light will make you feel better with your current situation.
It's fine to be sad. We just have to know how to cope with it. Remember, it's only by being sad that we can truly enjoy happiness.
